After Transferring Medical Records

Once the medical records are received in office, we will review them to make sure we have what is needed for us to begin caring for your children.

Unfortunately, we cannot treat or provide any care for your children until that time. We need your child's updated vaccine records before we can schedule a well visit. The provider needs this information to determine your child's vaccine status and provide comprehensive care at your visit.

Please be aware that under federal (HIPAA) and state laws, your previous healthcare provider may charge a "reasonable, cost-based fee" to copy your children's medical records. This cost is your responsibility. This fee may be waived if records are sent directly to our office.

If you have not already done so, please sign a release of records form and provide it to your children's previous healthcare provider.

We strive to provide the best individualized and comprehensive pediatric healthcare.

For Newborns

To do this successfully, we must be able to review all of your child's health records from all providers that you have seen. It is our policy to receive your previous medical records before we can assume care and schedule an appointment.

Bringing a newborn to a pediatric focused practice can ensure comprehensive care and support for your child's lifelong health. It allows for establishing a relationship with the healthcare providers early on, encouraging a sense of familiarity and trust crucial for ongoing care.

We recommend calling our office once you have discharge orders from the hospital. We usually see newborns 2 days after they go home from the hospital. However, whatever the attending pediatrician recommends is best! If the baby is losing too much weight or having some concerns for jaundice, they may want you to see us the next day.

We need you to bring all paperwork from the hospital to this first appointment. IT IS IMPERATIVE that we have this information. Please plan accordingly to arrive 15 minutes before this first appointment. If you are more than 15 minutes late, we may need to have you worked into the schedule or see another provider.

For New Families Transferring Care To Us

When transferring a child to a new pediatric practice, it's essential to provide all medical records, including vaccination records and any relevant lab or test results. Communication with both the current and new pediatric practices to ensure a smooth transition of care requires the transferring of necessary information about the child's medical history and ongoing treatments.
